Canterbury Tales: Student Activity
Here on this page you all will be able to see what it is exactly that you are to be doing for this class August 15th to the 19th as well as the grading rubric for the project. Your projects will be due on the 19th and you must be ready to present on that day as well. Good Luck!

Project Schedule:
  • Students will be able to pick their own groups of 2-3.
  • Groups will then be able to pick one of the tales from the Canterbury Tales by Chaucer that they must create a power point presentation, that they will have to present to the class, that accurately summarizes the tale that they have chosen and must also create and submit for approval five questions that will be given to each student at the end of each presentation for them to answer. The five questions from each tale presented will then be added up to form your test grade for the Canterbury Tales.
  • After Groups have been formed students will get a brief summary on who Chaucer is and what the Canterbury Tales are.

  • Students will be able to take this class period to read their tale together.
  • Students will also have this class period to begin to form main points and ideas that they plan on using in their presentation.
  • The five questions that each group is planning on asking at the end of their presentation must be submitted for approval by the end of the class.

  • Students will spend the entire class in the computer lab where they will be able to begin to create their power point presentation (presentation must be 5-10minutes long).
  • Students will hear back from me on whether or not their questions that they have submitted are suitable questions or not (if not the students have till the end of the day to create new questions and get them approved once again by me).

  • Students will once again spend the entire class in the computer lab working on their power point presentation.
  • Students should also strategize how they are planning on presenting their tale to the rest of the class.
  • Each group will present their tale one at a time using their power point slide show.
  • After each group goes all students will be handed a paper with the five questions the last presentation that they must answer and turn back into me to be graded.
  • If, for some reason, we are unable to go through all the groups the remaining groups will go the following Monday.

Grading Rubric for Project:
Group was able to come up with clear, challenging, and relevant questions for their tale

Do not forget that the questions that you are to answer after each presentation will be added up and turned into a test grade as well!
